Managing Bullying Behaviour Workshop

Overview of the Programme

Managing Bullying Behaviour is a two-day programme combining business psychology and professional acting. It is designed for those of you who:

  • Are subject to workplace bullying or have been subject to it, and want to learn how to handle future incidents of bullying behaviour effectively.
  • Observe incidents of workplace bullying in your workplace and worry you might be targeted next.
  • Are a manager and want to know how to confront bullying behaviour in one of your team members effectively.
  • Are responsible for working with or managing these issues for your employer, perhaps as a member of an HR or ER team.
  • Work with your clients on these issues as a coach or practitioner.
  • Want to understand more about the dynamics involved in incidents of workplace bullying.

The workshop will equip you with the knowledge and insight you need to differentiate between what behaviour does constitute workplace bullying and what behaviour - even though it is aggressive - does not. It examines the skills and tactics you (or your clients) need to handle incidents of bullying behaviour effectively at the time they occur, equipping you with effective strategies for confronting bullying behaviour.

The workshop initially explores why some people decide to bully their colleagues. It then examines the nature of the bullying dynamic which workplace bullies want to create in their relationship with the colleagues they target. It identifies useful ways of handling workplace bullying including how to respond in an effective, self-preserving and self-protective way at the time of an incident, and how to confront bullying behaviour in a team member or colleague.

The workshop involves actor input in the form of enacted scenarios to illustrate key dynamics at the heart of incidents of workplace bullying, and a series of tailored bullying roleplays selected by participants from their own experiences through which they can learn new and more effective responses.
